Libérer The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures Auteur Aaron Mahnke
Ws I was worried I love Aaron s podcast and I really I love the tv shows but all f the complaints Deflower the Boss of being podcasts in print had me concerned with how the book and the stories would be laidut I was pleasantly surprised that it reads just like his podcasts perhaps they are word for word but if you are like me a crazy busy person I miss stuff Sometimes when I listen to podcasts I ll get to the end and am not sure what i heard because the 1000 Hebrew magic amulets other things I m thinkingf gets in the way Of course I could go back and relisten but as a die hard reader I now have the words in my hands and I can give the stories the attention they deserve Love Lore but if you ve already caught the podcast nothing really new in the book Beautiful cover Wish I d realized before purchasing that this is basically the transcript f the podcast in book form I don t think I d have bought it if I d known since I listened to these episodes recently and they re still fresh in my mind Maybe if I wait a few years to read it it ll be enjoyable but I doubt it ll be any better than listening to the amazing podcast Not happy that I spent so much n something I d already heard but I do love the podcast so maybe I ll pass the book Being There on to someone else to get them hooked Monstrous Creatures is a fantastic collectionf creepy tales that stand alone as a wonderful book and also as a great companion piece to the Lore podcastSome reviews have stated it s just a podcast transcript it s so much than that People saying that have I fear missed the pointIt s awesome I love the podcast and was super excited to get this It s definitely different reading the stories instead هذه بلادنا: الجواء of listening but I was disappointed to see that 25f the 34 chapters are just transcripts Buddha's Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love, and Wisdom of podcast ep. Eists and vampires angry elves and vengeful spiritsIn this beautifully illustrated volume the hostf the hit podcast Lore serves as a guide n a fascinating journey through the history f these terrifying creatures exploring not nly the legends but what they tell us about urselves Aaron Mahnke invites us to the desolate Pine Barrens Witness to the Martyrdom: John Taylor's Personal Account of the Last Days of the Prophet Joseph Smith of New Jersey where the notorious winged red eyed Jersey Devil dwells He delves into harrowing accountsf cannibalismsome fficially documented thers the stuff f speculation perhaps He visits the dimly lit rooms where sances take place the European villages where gremlins.
If you haven t listened to the podcasts this is a nice book to read for myths If you have listened to the podcasts this is basically a transcript f the most popular episodes It was a disappointment I gave this a two nly because I like Aaron s riginal work This is not that The stories are word for word the same as the podcasts As a longtime fan I could uote half the podcasts from memory I don t need a book full The War at Home: One Family's Fight Against PTSD of transcripts I was really hoping for deep divesr new takes n these talesOh well at least I could enjoy all the gorgeous illustrations right Wrong While the pictures are beautiful and well done they are few and far between The hype around this book from Aaron himself made it sound like there would be drawings aboundI love Aaron s work his riginal novels and the podcast I want to support him by buying his work because f the joy his podcasts bring That said I feel like I was tricked and fooled I will not be preordering his items in the future I will be sure to read the reviews and make sure I m not fooled againIf you re familiar with the podcasts save your money It s nothing you haven t heard before Beautiful book with stunning artwork and a fantastic collection f morbid macabre magical talesThe podcast is wonderful pianist Chad Lawson creates an atmosphere that is unsettling in the most brilliant f ways which accompanies Aaron Mahnke s storytelling perfectlyThe book captures the charm f the podcast very well and is set to become a firm favourite Ten Thousand Goddam Cattle: A History of the American Cowboy in Song, Story and Verse of mine Along with the podcast and upcoming TV show it s a good time to be Aaron Mahnke Explains where myths and legends came from and that in fact mostf them came from beliefs f ur ancestors Really rationalises things Very educational When I first read the revie. A fascinating beautifully illustrated guide to the monsters that are part f ur collective psyche featuring stories from the Lore podcastnow a streaming television seriesincluding They Made a Tonic Passed Notes and Unboxed as well as rare materialThey live in shadowsdeep in the forest late in the night in the dark recesses f ur minds Theyre spoken The Stringbean Murders of in stories and superstitions relicsf an unenlightened age أساطير شعبية من قلب جزيرة العرب: الجزء الرابع old wives tales passed down through generations Yet no matter how wary and jaded we have become as individualsr as a society a part f us remains vulnerable to them werewolves and wendigos polterg.
Isodes The 9 extra transcripts that haven t made the podcast are great but I might not have spent so much for so little different content I also really wish there was artwork because there s nly maybe a dozen panels in the whole book and the pictures that do exist are really gorgeous and well done I realized after reading the first couple The Sporty Game of chapters that this book was basically a reprintf Mr Mahnke s podcast scripts If you ve not listened to the podcast this is certainly a good introduction to the Mahnke s audio work but the scripts do not make a stand alone book While there are lots American Yakuza II of interesting stories I intensely dislike the fact that Mahnke does not cite his sources He can get away with thisn the podcast since time is limited but there is no reason for dissing Inventions That Changed the World: Working Wonders other authors in a full length book As justne example Mahnke borrows extensively from the work Love Onboard: Cupid's Caribbean Cruise of Linda S Godfrey in his sectionn the Beast Vertical Mind: Psychological Approaches for Optimal Rock Climbing of Bray Road but never gives her any credit than mentioning her as a local reporter Godfrey has in fact written herwn full length book Blood Love on the Beast and severalthers besides I find such near plagiarism completely unacceptable Interesting subject matter but I found the writing style to be too informal and conversational in tone I uit reading after the sixth usage f you see by the second chapter This is ne f those books you can t put down Also i looked forward to my me time when i could sit down with a cuppa and be mesmerized This is a must get book its scary and full f Interesting true stories I cant wait to start n vol 2 now If you like the sound and feel f the podcast you ll enjoy this But don t bother with Volume 2This is ideal for those who like gentle sad and spooky if you re a slasher fan look elsewhere. Make mischief even Key West Florida home f a haunted doll named RobertIn a world f emotional vampires and zombie malls the monsters f folklore have become both a part f DIY, Dammit!: A Practical Guide to Curse-Free Crafting our language and a partf ur collective psyche Whether these beasts and bogeymen are real r just a reflection f ur primal fears we know Civil rights, tool of communist deception on some level that not every mystery has been explained and that the unknown still holds the power to strike fear deep inur hearts and souls As Aaron Mahnke reminds us sometimes the truth is even scarier than the loreThe World f Lore series includesMONSTROUS CREATURES WICKED MORTALS DREADFUL PLAC.
